East of Eden

86. Read 26 books I've never read starting with each letter of the alphabet (in progress - 12/26)

“The masterpiece of one of the greatest American writers of all time. East of Eden is an epic tale of good versus evil with many biblical references and parallels. The story is ultimately that of good’s triumph over evil and the human will’s ability to make that happen.”

“East of Eden” is one of the best written books ever. It simply is. It requires a very talented and skilled writer to create such a masterpiece. Every chapter was carefully written and the parallels to the economy and politics always interesting, adding a nice background to the story.
What amazed me the most were the characters. They were very complex, with rich background and somehow they never seemed to act out of their supposed personality, which is very difficult to write, particularly because of the high number of characters.
I’m very happy I finally read the book! I’ve wanted to do it for a couple of years but it never happened. I think that “Wuthering Heights” and “East of Eden” are my all time favorite novels!

Self Portrait I

26. Take a self portrait every week for one year (1/52)

Here it is my first self portrait! My mom took this picture of me today at one of my favorite spots in Lagos.
I know I’ve slowed down a bit and I must admit I’m a little disappointed with me but THERE’S SO MUCH TO DO!!! Lately it’s all about college. Well, mostly about college.
I decided to come home for a few days. Still studying but I managed to squeeze some fun in my busy schedule. Saturday was great! I arrived home, walked around the city, did a little shopping and went to the cinema with my family. We watched “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. I absolutely loved the book! So good! But the movie… Well I enjoyed it very much but something was missing. I don’t know… Last night I started watching the Swedish version with my mother (we haven’t watched the last 40 minutes because my mom was really tired). I think I prefer the American movie but some things are better explained in the Swedish version. I think the biggest problem with the Swedish version are the actors. They’re not very expressive. Altough I liked Noomi Rapace’s portrayal of Lisbeth, I still liked Rooney Mara’s better. And Mikael and Lisbeth’s relationship is much better in the American movie! I love the chemistry between Daniel and Rooney!
Oh and I’m finally reading “East of Eden”! It’s great so far! I have a feeling it will be one of my all time favorites! I’m looking forward to watching the movie as well.

Cirque du Soleil

34. See a production by Cirque du Soleil.

Last night I had the opportunity to go to Cirque du Soleil - Alegria. I went with my brother but it was a shame my mother couldn’t go.  She would have loved it.
It was absolutely beautiful! I was so very impressed! Such talent! Every detail was perfect, every single one of them.
I can only hope to have the opportunity to see it again someday. Hopefully, another one of their productions. Alegria was perfection.
The only sad thing (aside the ending) was that I was sitting next to a silly boy (about 10 years old), who barely watched the show and never clapped his hands. How could he not feel the urge to clap??
